The New York Public Library Main Branch
Built from 1897-1911 and designed by the famous Beaux-Arts firm of Carrère and Hastings, the Main Branch (now called the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building) is clad in one-foot-thick Vermont Marble. At the time, it was the largest marble structure in the US, and its Rose Main Reading Room is almost 300 feet long and features 52-foot-high ceilings.
